_Still Here

BeGiN_

Yes, yes, yes. I’m still here. I am never gone. With 3 blogs, a site to run, and tons of things to do at home, I’ll eventually sanction some time to manage it all. But until then this check in will have to do.

The full Revolution starts to materalize!

The WTF Factor

What is that You Say? Well This is WTF:

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

At first glance, this has to be the MOST weirdest piece of hardware I’ve seen in a LONG time. This has to play games right? Yes IT DOES. And guess what, it does it well. By the looks of the many screenshots I’ve seen so far, its very capable. AND if you get a chance to see the videos then you should understand the concept. FOR those on the more imaginative side, they will not need a video to tell them after they read the impressions and seen the shots as I have.

Accessory King?!

This controller has motion sensing capability when aiming it torwards the screen. That, in conjunction with a gyroscope embedded, gives the player FULL 3D control of the game. Star Wars fans, think of it as a beam sword without the beam. Others, think of it as exactly interacting with the game at a physical level. The way that the controller is designed, it inherits depth perception. SO poking at the screen could possibly give a poke at what’s onscreen.

That’s not all folks. It has a trigger at the bottom of the controller which possibly can create many options expecially for FPS games. At the BACK of the controller is an accessory slot:

Yes, that is a possible steering wheel add-on for the controller. Turn the controller SIDEWAYS and you get the traditional NES button layout for playing those classic games. Also, there seems to be plans for an add-on for those who like the traditional controller layout that can possibly add more buttons to the layout. The possibilities are astounding. I can’t wait to see what developers come up with. Even IF you don’t like the new controller, the Gamecube controller IS fully compatible with the Revolution.

To those who pre-Judge…

There also seems to be a backlash of people or “haters” of this new controller. 1up reports that developers are amazed at the new design. The creator of the Metal Gear Series ADORED the thing. SO why so much hate? Is it the fact that people don’t understand it yet? OR are they just hateful that their “favorite” company has not thought of this? Well Here’s a message: (copied from my original reply on the boards here.)

————
Its AMAZING that people don’t think that this will change the way we play games. Its AMAZING to think that there won’t be any 3rd Party Support. ITs AMAZING to me that the majority that FOUND an excuse to hate this controller has NO imagination whatsoever.

The Creator of MGS was DROOLING over this. You don’t think that it won’t spark a new way we play games? Nintendo will MOST DEFINITELY develop for this. BUT EA most definitely will want to also. That’s like 8 possible best sellers right there just with EA. Capcom AND Namco very well will invest a chunk of its resources. We could see a special version of Soul Calibur or a totally new types of games from any developer for that matter. Square-Enix and a number of others has already pledged support.

This won’t be another Gamecube. There is plenty of storage this time around, 20 years worth of titles, backwards compatibility to the Gamecube, FOUR SLOTS FOR TRADITIONAL CONTROLLERS, WiFi; Online Gaming. If you DO NOT see the possibilities, then you are BLIND and confused. IF you DON’T Think that competitiors will TRY to copy atleast ONE feature then you just don’t know the meaning of competition.

Dear gawd, if the only thing that people on this board can do but complain and flame then what’s the DAMN point of posting here? You obviously don’t want conversation. You most definitely want to get someone mad. You are MOST DEFINITELY NOT USING YOUR BRAIN when you do this. So why waste your time? To feel REASSURED that your choices were sound?

If Nintendo comes out second–or THIRD for that matters, WHO CARES. That means that nothing will have changed in your perfect little world. But for MOST of us who don’t have Psychological problems, we do see some relevance and promise in this new innovation. Will it cause a COMPLETE REVOLUTION? Who knows? Certainly not the wanna be Miss Cleos’ that I’ve seen in this thread predicting the future. But this will AND HAS so far–spark the imaginations of those who created the GTAs, the Halos, the Half-Lifes, the Final Fantisies, the Burnouts, the fighters, the adventures, the RPGs. It might sound like a complete speech to “you”. Yes you the ignorant ones. BUT NO ONE knew where the Video Game Industry was to go 10 years ago, and CERTAINLY not 20 years ago. Who would have known Sony to be the next big thing in videogames? Who would have known that Nintendo would have created all of that stuff? Who would have know of Microsoft becoming one of the Biggest corporations in the world? No one.

So get off of your skyscraper horses and learn to think and see what a lot of other people do. Learn to use your common sense, learn to use your imagination. Learn to be objective for once in your life.(this is most definitely going into my blog. :P )

Just keep those thoughts in mind before you decide to hate something you don’t fully understand yet.

Newest Aquisition of Dual Sets (DS. Get it? :P )

Yes that’s right, a NintendoDS. I bought this little blue blazer about a week ago. I would have had it sooner but UPS held it hostage on account of Hurricane Katrina.
Even after it came I had to wait the normal 4 hours so that it could charge. Unfortunately, my wishes did not come true since it had a dead pixel on the touch screen. But it did not bother me much until I noticed it when the screen would turn dark in the game. Then it started nagging at me like never before. I hear that I need to send it to Nintendo to get it fixed but it would take a week.I don’t even know if its gonna cost me money to send it or not. But if it does, then I’ll live with the dead pixel. Because, if I get another one with more dead pixels, then its another chunk out of my wallet.

GAMES!

Ok…um well, just one game. It was a hard decision to pick a game for the DS. So I looked for answers in the forums like usual, getting well thought opinions on different games. Eventually I set on buying Kirby: Canvas Curse with my DS. Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
I picked the game because I still had pleasant memories about Kirby: Superstar for the SNES. Let’s say that Canvas Curse has not let me down in this respect. I know that the “3D” Kirby games has NOT been too good. But that is the same with just about any 2D character/game that was force raped into 3D. The game is challenging, and fun with a few suprises like classic music and different styles of ink used to propel your character.

Hidden Extras?

One thing that suprised me is that the DS has some options that I didn’t read about in the inital reviews of the handheld. The DS has an option to “share” games wirelessly. Not only can you and someone else play the same game against eachother, but they usually only NEED ONE CART. I did notice that some games didn’t support it, but many of the multiplayer capable games have this option like Advance Wars DS.

All in all, I am glad that I chose to buy one. IT barely leaves my side now. The only thing now is to build up a library of new and usually “used” games. I think that my next purchase might either be Advance Wars DS or Meteos, depending on if Fire Emblem(DS) makes it out later on.

So its been a while I know but I have been busy with so many other things that everything I tell myself that I am gonna post, it gets pushed back because of something else.

This has been the worst storm since…”ever”. Most useless media outlets claim that it was a category 4 when it hit but the Weather Channel clearly labeled it Category 5 when it made landfall. So, where did the degradation come? It sure wasn’t BEFORE the fact. Maybe after it reached Baton Rouge? But not before a Category 5 Katrina destroyed New Orleans. And 5 days later, the people there are STILL suffering. Every official involved can share the blame as they ALL failed to prepare and act on time.

But another concern of mine is those in Mississippi might get ignored in the entire thing. Biloxi has had just as much damage as New Orleans had. But the only thing seen in the media are New Orleans and how they are suffering or looting. IT is disgusting how most of them are handling this. The RED CROSS especially. They are showing everyone in America just how they respond to emergencies. AND that was NOT a compliment. They have been fumbling through the entire process. There are smaller charities and individuals who are doing 10 times better than them and with LESS resources. Now look at them, getting more money from corporations just to put it in their pockets. We have had our own little excursions with the Red Cross in the past with other hurricanes. So that is why they get little or no sympathy from me with these matters. The Federal Government is just as liable. There still are no preparedness at the federal level for natural disasters. BUT enough of that….

_UpS

This hurricane has also taught me another lesson about shipping companies. UPS has little and NO preparedness for disasters either. IF that hurricane would have hit New Orleans directly and not off to the left, we would have been apart of the disaster area. But UPS thought that we were. Even after trying to call and figure out where my valuable package was, the customer service callcenter was cut off from the rest of Louisiana. The only way I was able to contact someone there was through e-mail.

Even then they were useless. The only thing that they did was reply with a generic email reply with a random name in the signature. BUT just as I was about to call for a full refund from the service that I ordered from, the shipment was rescheduled. But if anything is wrong with it, its going back at the expense of UPS. This is why I like Fed-Ex. Their sorting area is in Kenner, LA and they were rolling again after Wednesday. People can say what they want about them but I have NEVER had a problem with Fed-Ex so far.

Recently, I have been ignoring my creative side. As a result I developed a mental block when it came time to design something. Everytime I opened up a graphics program or a notebook for that matter, it was nothing but gibberish when it was time to produce. This had been going on for a while. Until I made it my priority to remove it, or part of it anyway. Needless to say that I did remove a part of it and now I can work on my website again. BUT some of it is still there and appears from time to time when I’m trying to think up new ways to deliver content in the page. For now, partial relief will do. BUT one day needs to be dedicated to my art so that I can remove it all.
