Well, Today is good friday and all is well I guess. I have this old monitor that just won’t keep a picture. My good monitor went out on me awhile ago. This one is just a temporary one. Though it is about 9 years old, its still kicking strong. I will get another one soon I hope. So, I am now looking for a cheap hard drive since I am seriously running out of space on my current one. Prices are in my favor though. BUT its finding the money to buy one…….anyway.

StReEt FiGhTeR aNnIvErSaRy CoLlEcTiOn_

I bought this game around feburary. I think on the day it came out and it has now taken over all playing time on my new X-box. the collection includes Hyper Street Fighter: Anniversary Edition and Street Fighter 3: Third Strike. Though I enjoy HSF, its SF3 that takes up all of the attention. This game has got to be one of the BEST street fighter games ever. There is one short fall of that game though and its the INSANE Ai. Not even the Arcade version was this hard. Either that or I’m just rusty from all of the 3d games that I normally play. HSF has some new edits like remixed BGM musis but you can change it to the old CPS2 music that was originally with the series. SF3 has the most annoying boss in videogame history. M who?? His name–is Gill. And he is the fastest, strongest and smartest fighting Ai in a 2D game. He will absolutely put any other 2D boss to shame, Zero from the KOF series has nothing on him. He jumps the highest, fights the fastest, and havve combos that will eat at the vitality bar like a starving hobo. Despite that, I really like the game because the presentation is top-notch.

There is not much to say right now. My life seems like it has came to a screeching hault. Nothing ever goes on in this little city. Its like standing still in time without it ever moving. There is the occasional rainstorm…or loud music vehicle passing by….or…well…nothing. I’ve been in touch with my sister back in Houston to talk it up about various topics that I won’t get into here. BUT all in all, I’m just wating for the next big thing to come along to fill the void. My concentration also seems like it was lost somewhere back at the Texas-Louisiana border. I can’t seem to focus on much of anything right now. Even working on my site; Flash128k has no affect on me whatsoever. Now its being neglected and I have to find a new way to deliver the content that I want. Oh well, ’till next time.

_ lack of updates

Ok, so its been about 2 months since I updated this. Things around here have been going slow. Things have gotten worse since I am now sick with a Sinus infection. Now that I have the time to talk about things, maybe this will take my mind off of the congestion and pressure that is now torturing me.

Ok so, I recently came across some free hosting. I don’t know how long it will last BUT It has given me an opportunity to properly test some new PHP scripts like MamboCMS. The site is supposed to be about Game franchises. Since there are a lot of sites that either focuses on one series or just hardware. We are going to try to skip that aspect and focus purely on the series alone. Most of the series that will be displayed will be from the 128-bit era(The current Generation). Since the 256-bit era is in close approach, some franchises will be replaced by more complicated games and prettier graphics. For those interested goto: http://www.generator.hiya-host.com

There is another site that I’m working on, it will be getting a full overhaul. But that has been put on hold until I can talk to the site owner. He wants to discuss things about the site. I don’t know what there is to talk about but that is that. The current software that is running the site is old, buggy and obsolete. As you know, this site will be also ran by Mambo and Simple Machines forums. It has a fresh new layout and more features than you can shake a stick at BUT I can’t get it online just yet. The site is a community site for a game named Freelancer made by Microsoft. Its a pretty fun game but I’ve been playing less and less of the game because of my subpar computer. A measly 700mhz Duron and 32mb of video memory…..Not to mention a dialup connection so things get bogged down sometimes with a lot of players and NPCs on screen at one time.

My birthday was on February 8th making me 23. MY sister, my nephew and my brand new niece of 1 years old all are in the same month. So we decided to have a big birthday party on my niece’s bdate. It was the usual, food and fun but a lot of good laughs and food made by my brother-in-law’s aunt. She used to run her own restaurant. There is a lot of drama about why she doesn’t have it now(Mainly underhanded landlords) but she will find a way to do what she wants.

I recently got my hands on Street Fighter 3 Third strike again. Thanks to my brand new X-Box given to me at Christmas. Among other things, there really hasn’t been anything worthwhile to talk about.

_ Well It has been WAAAAAY too long

Well It has been WAAAAAY too long since I did a post. I just kept telling myself that I will make one but I just kept putting it off until I found some time. But the time never came until NOW when I officially have nothing to do.

First off, Its the day after christmas and all through the house. Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. BUT outside is a stupid dog named Dusty that WON’T STOP BARKING! Gawd that dog gets on my nerves. He’s barking at distant fireworks going off in the distance. All of the usual shops opened up. I wonder who will have the better deal? Not that I care or anything, because we normally shoot at the sky on New Years. I know that its dangerous BUT we are outside the city limits and there are fields for miles. But anyway, I have no New Year’s resolution. I might make one later in the week but I don’t even want to bother. I always end up having to get off of track because of something silly.

Christmas was more or less stressful than normal. First of all, I didn’t have to buy many gifts this year. But I did have to do a number of errands. But aside from that, it wasn’t all that eventful. At least until Christmas Day.

For the first time in a decade, it SNOWS in this part of Louisiana. It hasn’t been this cold in 15 years. It threw me for a loop. I finally got the chance to experience the snow again. For my nephews, its the first time for them since none of them were born before ’88-’89. We had fun freezing our hands off in the ice that covered just about everything. There wasn’t enough of it to build Snow angels and Snow men but it was enough for ust to enjoy a nice little battle of a snowball fight.

Later that afternoon, me and my two nephews played the game one of them got for christmas. We ended up playing it for about 6 hours straight. A lot of fun and laughs all turned cold that night when i had to drive one of them home. It took like 15 mins to thaw out the windshield. The snow turned into ice slabs on most cars we passed by. I think it was about 27 degrees that night. Tonight isn’t all that cold as yesterday but its still cold and I hate cold.

I didn’t get many gifts this year. One of them have to be bought this week because what I wanted was all sold out. I’m not to distroyed by it but it does put a damper on today because I have nothing to do. Though yesterday I did bake my patented Lemon-Meringue pie. It came out rather well but i did not get a chance to savor any of it. While I was cooking, me and two of my other nephews engaged in a game of UNO. Sad to say that both of them tried continually to cheat but none of them were able to compete with a vet.

It was a good christmas but nothing like I expected. It always seems to turn out as unexpected. Maybe I shouldn’t expect anything next christmas. It might make things even more eventful.

Well, its almost Thanksgiving. The only thing I look forward to this holiday for is the food. I can eat all I want and no one will ever care. Oh well, this might be the shortest entry to date in my blog since there is not much for me to talk about right now.

I am now up to 47% completion and everything has gone better than expected. Though you will be totally fustrated by now since pretty much everything now is challenging. I like to be challenged but this is ridiculous. Though this game far exceeds my expectations, I just don’t see what some people have against it. It meets the standards of the traditional Metroid style. So why are so many people turned off. I think that there hasn’t been a good challenge for gamers in a long time and they are starting to feel it. I’m already looking forward to the next installment, though I will finish this one to the fullest. There are WAAAY too many questions that are unanswered. Like, WHO in the HELL is Dark Samus and why does it mock me so? And the true motive to why the Ing has invaded the planet. Will Ridley rear his ugly head again? Or will Mother Brain make a comeback… Its all up in the air until I can finish.

_Not feeling too good

Well, its Friday and I’m not feeling too good mentally. My sister is getting on my last nerve. I tell you that this shyt must stop soon. I feel like I’m stuck in a horror film wiht NO way to turn off the power button on the TV. *sigh* Anyway, I am further along in Metroid Prime 2. I needed something to clear my head or I would be in a BIG fight right about now.

I finally got the Dark Suit, along with both Light and Dark beams. I do not liek the fact that you have ammo limits on the beams but I guess its because the technology isn’t all that compatible with eachother. THOUGH I did manage to run into one of my FAVORITE Super Metroid tunes in this game. It ‘s the stage music to Brinstar Depths 2. I was suprised that this tune was remixed fairly well to blend into the Metroid Prime enviornment. I am in a weird place called the Torvous Bog and just recently gotten the Super Missles back. Meanwhile, the Space Pirates seem like that they get stronger and stronger by the second I’m playing that game. Treading through the Dark dimension is also both a pain and erie at the same time. It’s supposed to be a mirror reflecton of the Light Dimension but things are not exactly the same as many people claim. There are lot of things out of whack in that dimension that many are not aware of until they play through it. I gotten up to 43% of the scans, most of the Lore and I’ve barely scratched the surface of the number of creatures. I’m loving this game so far, the ONLY thing that could mess this up is a bad ending.

I FINALLY gotten a G-mail invite from a friend. He had 5 of them and gave me one. Currently, I just enabled pop acces on it and everything is looking good there so far. There is a really unique approach to the system called “archiving”. I can see many new uses for this. BUT so far I have NOT managed to scratch the amount of information that can be stored there. Only time will tell… I want to test the spam capabilities of the system, but so far I kept a pretty clean inbox.

Another usual day in the life of Louisiana. As usual its grinding season and the air smells like burnt leaves and sugar cane. Its less apparent nowdays mainly because I think that the state government made them use filters to keep all that crap from bellowing into the atmosphere. Still, things get a little cruddy around here because of all of the tractors and such taking mud and loose sugar cane stalks out of the surrounding fields and tracking it up and down the streets.

Another disappointing tidbit, one of the “merchants” at Amazon.com just dissed me by NOT shipping the book that I wanted. They said something like “a shipping mishap” and “unable to send you your order“. I bet that they just made it up because they used false advertisement to get people to buy it. Anyway, Amazon in general just went to the bottom of trusted merchant websites. I rather would want to deal with one warehouse than to deal with one-hundred and one of them just to get one item. That’s what merchant rating sites are for. Mind you, that is the FIRST time something like that happened to me in the many years that I have been buying merchandise online. On a higher note, I just got Metroid Prime 2: Echoes.

MeTrOiD pRiMe 2: EcHoEs_

This game is one of the highlits of my current gaming experience with the Gamecube. It is unbelivable how much they paid attention to tedail in the enviornments. Also they are HUGE. Compared to the first Prime, it makes you think that you are actually on a real planet and not in an artificial game field. More notable is the art direction. It’s even more extreme than the First Prime. I can’t even put it all into words right now. Maybe after I finish the game I’ll have a better perspective on it all.

I also had time to complete my front page of my portfolio site. It took about a few days on and off it, but I think that it came out ok. ITs not the height of my ability but it was interesting how I came across some of the effects that I pulled off. Soon I will be able to update my screen shot site to reflect my recent happenings on the Boston Freelancer Server. ALSO I often forget to post in my blog sometimes. Maybe if I knew if anyone were reading them, I would try to update it more often. But for now, its mainly for my benefit. I tend to forget events sometimes. Like I forgot to include my happenings with my road trip back to Louisiana and the “Evil chevy Mini van” that followed us about 45% of the way. Talk about creepy, but nothing “crazy” happened.

Well, it has been an entire month and a half since I posted. Life has slowed down a bit and my blog shows it. Since I’ve been back in Louisiana, things have been both stationary and weird at the same time. Well…

The sob story goes like this, My sister has a mental condition. (Yes sktszo) She has been doing crazy things as of late, and now she refuses to go back to her apartment. Her son stays here where I am because he goes to school here. He didn’t want to move with her since she made him move a lot of times and he just got tired of it all. Now she is afraid to stay at home alone . He just won’t budge and that is final. Now that she is here, I am here constantly looking for a job in my field…..and I got to hear talk to herself and her two other personalities CONSTANTLY. Its starting to drive me CRAZY. I need to either get away from here quick or convince someone to take her back home because I officially had enough.

I have now developed an afinity to Anime related material. Cartoon Network has only added to this itch that I can never seem to scratch. I even bought a book to learn how to draw in that style. Up until now, I have been slowly developing my own style but every now and then, I need a sort of infusion to keep my interest up. When I was in school, there was hardly any time for drawing. Now I have all the time in the world and my drawings are coming along fine. I don’t have my own scanner yet so I have to borrow one for the time being. Once I do, I will have a ton of new art ready for deviantART.com.

Seems like If nothing interesting happens soon, I will have to eventually break down how I do simple things from day to day. This is both relaxing and depressing at the same time….well untill next time.

_Graduation at last!

Well, My days as a college student is officially over(for now). A new milestone of my life has opened up and its actually kind of weird. Its like I just currently got stuck in limbo. Either that or its the euphoria from graduation. I would have posted something sooner but I never got around to doing it at all. The sad thing is that I never went parting or anything like that. I DID however went out with my family to eat and shop and stuff but nothing spectacular in my opinion.

Now I moved back home temporarily until I can find a good paying job in my profession. There was actually a report done on this earlier in the year about this exact thing. I never believed that it would happen to me BUT it actually did. I don’t really mind since its a welcomed change of pace. Now I can officially sleep and recover from all of the crazy schedules and insane deadlines. I can stretch it with the best of em but after a while, it has adverse effects on the body. AND eventually you become tired all the time and your keen design sense goes out of the window for a much less taxing solution. Sooooo…..I did actually have fun at the graduation….

GrADuAtIoN Day_ SePt 25, 2004_

Graduation day was all about rushing to get where you were going. First of all the Art Institutes don’t necessarily have big theatres on the properties of their campuses so they try to find alternatives. Before , it was at the George R. Brown Convention Center but for some reason they were compelled to go to UH. Yes….The University Of Houston. They have a performance arts center called Cullen Hall.

First of all, The UH campus is HUGE! They even have their own Hilton DIRECTLY on campus. I visited universities and all BUT I never seen anything like that. Secondly, did I say that the campus was huge? I mean Extremely Huge. That thing spans a NUMBER of city blocks. I don’t think that I could ever attend something like that. Especially with little or no transportation and no map…But ANYWAY…

We had to be there 2 hours early in order to rehearse the march that we had to do. They also had to train the announcer to say our names right. Seeing that our department has the most crazy thinkers ever. We wore our hats and tassels throughout the entire rehearsal. We got a couple of giggles but otherwise it was something to do there. Also our department was the biggest graduation class.

In the front of the hall, WE had to wait about 45mins so that the “others” could prepare for the day. So we are basically outside in Houston weather which is about 95 degrees with a heat index of 110 daily. Eventually they allowed us to wait in the lobby but we got a chance to clown the help and watch the pretty co-eds walk by outside. At about 2:30PM we had to go in the back and line up.

Backstage, we got to wait another 45mins because the MAYOR was late. Yes….Mayor Bill White, of Houston spoke but anyway… WE were bored so we clowned around throwing around insults at eachother until we spotted the instructors. The instructors was in a room at the top of a stairwell that we were standing in. SOOOO we clowned them until they came down to line up with us. After that, we started spouting random quotes from the recent movies that many of us seen and tailored them to include one of the instructors standing infront of us. We got a pretty good laugh out of them but in the end it was time to get serious…..almost.

There was this guy who marched in front of me who at rare times would space out because he couldn’t believe that he was graduating. But atleast he didn’t faint or more importantly, vomit on me. As usual, in the ceremony we had the usual speakers and …….Bill White. Put it like this, the man had to fill a certain time slot and I think that he went OVER. Everytime he stopped to think up the words to say he would open up with (texas accent)”I tell ya what”. It wasn’t one of the most boring speeches that I ever heard BUT it was up there.

Later, there was this one nerdy dude who was awarded with a couple of awards. AND every time he went up, one of us had something to say while everyone was quiet. So it made his walk even more nerve racking. WE even simulated anxious heartbeats on one particular walk. You could just see the squeamish expression on his face everytime he went up. Soooo soon after, it was time to receive the awards….

I was pretty composed when I sat down after getting my degree. Compared to the guy next to me….I was cool…

He sat down… Looked ahead at the stage…. Paused… Looked down at the “degree holder”… Rubbed the top… …By now I am snickering at him…

…I ask him if he’s ok. He says, “….Its….Over…Its Real….”. By now I’m laughing at him.

He RUBS it AGAIN!…

He opens the holder and in it says “Sal Ba–censored name–“(for obvious reasons…that’s not his full name…)”Associates Degree of Applied Sciences”

(funny part)

He closes it… OPENS IT AGAIN!!…. Looks at it… Closes it… OPENS IT AGAIN!!!… Closes it again….

I ask him AGAIN if he’s ok. He says, “I’m Ok, I’m OK. Its real I’m good now. I’m back.” Now I’m laughing even harder.

Guess what… HE OPENS IT ONE MORE TIME!!! GAWD….. Now he had ME checking more than once…

….so I look and start laughing at myself….

he looks at me and started giggling.

ANYWAY. I’m an Official Professional Multimedia & Web Designer.

….Now comes the hard part. FINDING A JOB…

But…. afterwards, me and my family went to the Golden Coral. IT was a brand new one and it was one of the most recent Golden Corals that I have been to. (AKA I don’t normally eat there from all the rumors that I heard.) Later we went to Katy Mills Mall where we spent the rest of the day clowning around as usual.

well…. that was about it… later I’ll post about my road trip back to Louisiana.
